Swamy Killing HiranyaKashipu
As the world is aware HiranyaKashipu is the ardent devotee
of lord Shiva and follows him by heart and soul, being the king of His kingdom,
hiranyakashipu was scared of death and always wanted to save himself, hence to
do so he starts doing tapasya to please lord Brahma and ask for a Varam [boon /
blessing], his request was to make him immortal from the forces of this world
and have no death until he wishes.
Lord Brahma Delighted with the prayers of Hiranyakashipu,
gives his darshan [i.e appears in front of him] and invites for his requests, hiranyakashipu
asks lord Brahma Kindly make me immortal
as I want be the strongest who can be killed by no one and give me the blessing
of not dyeing
until I wish to, for which Brahma refuses and states it is
against the nature of human beings and cannot be granted
Listening to Brahma - King puts certain conditions of being
immortal
- I should not die if killed by a Man or Animal
- I should not die if killed on earth or in Space
- I should not die if killed in either day or Night
- I should not die if killed in a house [indoor] or outside [out door]
- I should not be killed by any weapons which are either animated or in animated.
Listening to the conditions Brahma accepts the wish and grants
the blessing of being immortal and leaves
Prahlada the son of Hiranya Kahsyapu since the birth has
only been the follower of Lord Vishnu unlike the king who only worships Shiva, in
spite of his father’s dislike Prahlada continues worshiping lord Vishnu and
never listens to the King hiranya kashipu, One fine day hiranya kashipu asks
his son to show his god and prahlada states there is nothing in this universe
where his lord is not present and he is everywhere, even in the pillars of the
house out of frustration and anger Hiranyakashypu starts breaking the pillars
which his gadha, and lord narasimha swamy comes out from one of the pillars and
Kills him.
- As Hiranyakashipu had the blessing of not getting killed with conditions, lord narasimha swamy kills him in the following way
- lord narasimha swamy is neither man or animal, as he is lion headed satisfies the first condition
- Lord Narasimha swamy holds hiranya kashipu in his lap, which is neither space nor earth
- With this sharp Finger Nails [which is neither a weapon, which is nor animated] tears his body
- As the condition was not to kill during the day nor night, narasimha swamy kills hiranya kashipu during twilight.
